As you can see, it's been 6 months since my last blog posting here on our church website. Life has gotten rather crazy since the first of the year and time has become something very valuable to me! On January 3rd I stepped down to a part-time role here at the church despite still giving the message each and every Sunday since. I also went back to work full-time by anchoring the morning and noon news on WLIO TV-35 in Lima.

Television and broadcasting was something that I walked away from 25 years ago to have more balanced time at home with my family. It's funny how things work in life. This was something that I thought I had left behind only to have it return to my life - mostly because Ellen and I needed better insurance and this was a way to accomplish that.

There are times when I wonder if this is simply too much for me as I work 40 hours a week in TV and try to come to the church each day M-F for 3-4 hours to get my work done here at the church. Some days I go home and I'm exhausted and I ask myself, "Am I doing this for the right reasons? I have no life and I'm tired all the time!"

That's when I am reminded of the words found in 1 Peter 3:12 that say, "The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers."  Many people want to work for God, but they don't want to spend much time with God.

Yes, my time with God has been cut drastically but it's up to me to be in His Word and in prayer.  God calls us to work for Him because there is no place in Christian life for laziness or a lack of diligence. But God also calls us to be with Him: "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place" Mark 6:31.

It's not easy to shut out the world and set aside a few minutes by yourself and spend time in God's Word and prayer. That's why I have started to use my 35 minute drive to and from work as my personal prayer time with God. He doesn't care if I'm driving or on my knees - as long as I'm talking to Him!

When do you find or make your time for God? It's essential that to grow our relationship with God that we are in prayer with Him daily. We need this to strengthen ourselves for those times in our life when we are facing a battle. If you aren't already praying daily to God I urge you to make the time and spend some alone time talking with Him.

Time is something that many of us are trying to find but if we really examine our situation, there's always enough time for God!
