As we begin to move through the season of Advent we get closer and closer to Christmas morning. Lots of us are decorating our trees and hanging lights outside of our homes and getting into the feeling of Christmas.

Then, there are those that firmly believe that Christmas is nothing more than a Pagan holiday and that Christians have no need to celebrate. They stand on the fact that nowhere in the Bible does it tell us to celebrate the birth of Christ. Then, on top of it all, they want to argue that Christ wasn't even born on December 25th!

These are both strong arguments but if you are indeed a Christian - do you honestly think that God has an issue with any of us celebrating and remembering and giving thanks for the incarnate birth of His Son, Jesus?

Did you ever stop to really read what Paul tells us in Romans 14:5-6? Here, he gives all Christians something to think about as he tells us, One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord.  Whoever eats meat does so to the Lord, for they give thanks to God; and whoever abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God.

Then, later in that same chapter and verse 10 he states, You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God's judgement seat.

Let's not get all caught up in so many of the details and decide for ourselves what we choose to celebrate - as long as it is done in celebration to the Lord.

The shepherds glorified and praised God for the birth of Jesus, the Messiah. Why can't we choose to do the same? This is also the time of year when people are more open to hearing the gospel. We need to take full advantage of that to witness to them about the saving grace that is given to all of us through Jesus Christ.

Christmas is entirely about the promised Messiah that came to this earth to save God's people from their sins. Christmas gives us a wonderful opportunity to share this truth with all people.

There's an old saying that goes, "Live and let live!"  Sometimes, we try so hard to "prove" that we are a better Christian and that we love God more than others when this life isn't about that. God knows our heart! Choose as you wish when it comes to Christmas because there is no right or wrong as long as we are doing so out of love and worship of our Savior, Jesus Christ!
